‘SAFE METER’ from Optex employs Nordic’s nRF51822 SoC to wirelessly download driver travel logs to the user’s iOS- or Android-compatible smartphone or tablet. The SAFE METER adheres to the dashboard of a vehicle and records sudden acceleration and braking, as well as irregular steering via the device’s built-in three-axis accelerometer. Optex explains that the device provides the driver with immediate feedback via alarms and icons in the event of potential accidents so they can take corrective action. SAFE METER also provides the driver with an easy to understand careful driving ‘count’ display, designed to promote safe driving awareness. The fewer logged ‘incidents’ during a trip, the higher the count, displayed numerically on the device’s display.
The ‘Beacool CarFit Band’ employs Nordic’s nRF52832 SoC to provide Bluetooth low energy wireless connectivity and support processor-intensive application. The Beacool CarFit Band employs Nordic’s nRF52832 SoC to provide Bluetooth low energy wireless connectivity between the device and Bluetooth 4.0 and later, smartphones and tablets, as well as other wireless gateways, and to handle the processor-intensive algorithms required for the device’s multifunction capabilities. The wristband has a standby time of more than one month between recharges, thanks in part to the ultra low power characteristics of the Nordic SoC.
The ‘Movesense’ platform from Suunto provides a programmable sensor, APIs, and software libraries and is designed for applications ranging from sports and health to logistics and gaming. A professionally-managed Application Programming Interface (API) and software libraries allow developers to build applications using the sensor and develop associated iOS and Android mobile apps. The nRF52832 SoC provides the Bluetooth low energy wireless connectivity between the sensor and Bluetooth 4.0 and later, smartphones and tablets. The nRF52832 SoC’s 64MHz, 32-bit ARM® Cortex® M4F processor feature ample performance to run both the Movesense platform’s application software and the Bluetooth low energy RF protocol software.
The ‘BT5 Bi-Direction Audio Remote Module’ from RFsen employs Nordic’s Bluetooth 5-compatible nRF52832 SoC to enable ‘better than CD quality’ audio streaming between consumer electronic products. Due to the Nordic nRF52832 SoC’s support for Bluetooth 5’s 2 Mbps physical layer, RFsen’s module can support high-bandwidth audio streaming via Bluetooth low energy, offering a 48KHz audio sampling rate - superior to CD quality - with much lower power consumption than Bluetooth audio solutions based on Bluetooth Basic Rate/Enhanced Data Rate technology.
